Around what months of the year do you guys/girls start cutting for the summer?

Once every 4 weeks

I do my major cutting cycle 12-16 weeks before my competition(s) I do in summer, usually start in April/May
Peace

How much Cardio do you during those times? How well does your lower body fat levels after a competition stick around? Were you pretty lean as a kid and through high school 10-12%?

I usually cut for about 10-12 weeks before the summer and usually start in March/April.

Since I am new to the PH/PS world I am thinking of doing some short (3 week) bulk/cut cycles. If I do four of those, that'll take me until mid-June. If I want to drop my BF lower (depending on how successful the short cuts go) I'll probably do another 4-8 week cut, no cardio.

I dont go by what time of year it is, i cut when i get so fat i can't stand it. Unfortunatley for me i have a high set point and i can never get as lean as i would like without losing a ton of muscle. And as soon as i start bulking all the fat comes right back. I dont think i have ever been lower than twelve percent.

One of the topics Lyle discussed once on MFW that got me to thinking was how long the body takes to truly get into an "anabolic" or bulking mode. One would have to question whether short bulking cycles are the most beneficial, or if longer more drawn out cutting and bulking cycles are more appropriate in order to normalize hormone profiles, etc. If one's been dieting for a while, it may take a little while for the body to kick back into "normal" again, so perhaps a 3 week bulking cycle may not be the best. There is probably more to the equation than just calorie surplus/excess or calorie deficit.

Just thinking aloud here really, but its an interesting question.
