Bailey,

You seem to have some learning to do. The WORST way to burn fat is to starve yourself!! You will not be able to keep it up and your bodies metabolism will slow down!

The way I burn fat is to eat small meals through out the day and eat at least 6 meals and I also snack between these meals.

A typical meal would be an 8oz steak, large salad and a cup of rice but if you look on here you will find lots of meals and daily food intakes.

I take in at least 250g of protein a day, take a good multi vit, cod liver oil or udo's oil (fantastic but expensive) and for me that's about all the supplements.

Now here's my BIG secret when I really want to start burning the fat I climb onto my bike and cycle the 6 miles to work 3 times a week!! At this point it just falls off but maybe that's because my metabolism means I would burn off a Big Mac by walking to the rubbish bin to throw away the wrapper.

the option to starve yourself will chew up muscle tissue. your body will hold onto fat long before muscle...you need to be eating about 7 small meals a day to keep your thyroid functioning properly.

flax seed oil will help burn body fat, you need to take at least 3 tablespoons a day(depending on your size) and won't see results for about 4-6 weeks.

kelp is another great "natural" supplement. the iodine helps promote thyroid function.

im about 185 to 190 depending on the day about 12% bodyfat and i want it to be as close to 0 % as possible. i started taking some b12 for engery and taking my vitamins. i think the big thing wearing me out is lack of a set sleep schedule.

i think you're way off on your bf percentages. at 12%, you would see slight abs. at 0%, you would be dead. at 4%, you would be very unhealthy. you should strive for 10%.

first off, get your bodyfat checked again. do a search on fat loss in all the forums. don't be afraid to use the search button. you really need to sit down and read.

hey bio how do you check your body fat percentage? thanks lol

-USAF

i use body fat calipers. i got mine at www.bodybuilding.com. i got the digital one's with the myotape measure for like $30. keep in mind that calipers for home use and calipers in general aren't 100% accurate. although, they are close and in the ballpark. i just use them to measure my progress.

basically you will have three measuring sites, you measure, either you or the caliper (depends if it is digital) will calculate, and then there ya go. if you get the calipers, i wouldn't recommend trying to test yourself...it won't be as accurate as it could be. if you buy one, just read the directions. if you still have more questions...just ask away.

OK my input on this is if you're really all that busy then you can use protein shakes mixed with flax oil every 2-2.5 hours. Try and get at least 2 protien meals with carbs and veggies. One post workout and the other whenever you have the time. Try and get in about 7 meals/shakes per day, and once per week have a junk day, or at the very least a junk meal. By bumping up your cals on the one day per week you will increase thyroid production, as dieting tends to depress thyroid function/metabolism.

The number of cals you'll need are about 2000 per day, but if you're really hitting the cardio hard then you can increase the cals slightly. Keep the protein high, EFAs moderate, and carbs low. You'll have to adjust your numbers until you find the combination that works best for you, so just use what I've posted as a guidline to start.

Lastly don't get to caught up in BF%, or over all bodyweight. Use the mirror, and take a few pics of your progression, as you diet this will give you good feed back. Remember that calipers, scales etc are just tools and if you don't understand how best to utilize them in your dieting then I suggest that you not use them.

That's it in a nut shell. I realize this is not overly specific, but it's a good start.

I second PS's comments. I had a client I was training that was very busy and didn't know how to cook. I had him eating eggs/oatmeal in the morning, 2 mrps, 2 protein shakes with a banana and then he'd eat some steak or chicken with some broc and potatoes for dinner. He impressed me with how well his body responded to that and he dropped his bf in half over 10 weeks.

when you eat small meals throughout the day...your body burns what it has more efficiently. it burns everything in your stomach for energy because your body thinks it's not getting more. so, if you over-eat...your body slows its metabolism and stores what it has for energy. by eating more small meals throughout the day...your body burns what it has for immediate energy because it thinks it's not getting any more food. thus, it speeds your metabolism.

shakes...protein shakes. a scoop of whey protein. mrp = meal replacement protein...this is like a protein enriched meal replacement.

i personally wouldn't recommend too many shakes. i only have one a day. the rest is solid food. you should really worry about a good, clean diet. make sure you are getting enough clean, quality food. natural solid food is very anabolic. i would choose food over any shake, any day.
