I know there isn't a big community here yet but I think there should be a post requirement to post here. Just my 2 cents.

Sounds like a good call. I'd prefer it be members with more than 20 posts who can post in this section. That's heavy and Aristotle's call to make though, and we are still in the stage where we want to attract new members. There's a delicate balance to be struck.

Goatfish, you are smart. Is it because you are Irish? I bet that's the case. My family is from Westmeath originally btw.

Yeah I definitely agree about wanting to attract as many people as possible. I just feel that for us to really confirm the validity of what anyone is saying or at least be as sure as we can be about it, that would be a good start.

I'd like to think that every awesome thing about me is because I'm Irish. Haha. Ahh that's awesome. I'm from Wicklow which is basically just east of Westmeath, on the coast.

Oh man! I forgot about the intense anti-Irish sentiment that used to permeate the country.

That picture is circa.....?

β€œThe Most Recently Discovered Wild Beast” (1881)

I like to think that the anti-hispanic, anti-muslim, anti-whatever sentiment today is the same that people had towards the Italians and Irish back in the 1800s-1940s. For the "Greatest Generation", WWII came along, and people realized that their squadmates, who had names like Rossi and Lombardi (or Murphy and O'Brien for you Irish) were just like them, guys trying to make it in America with families and lives and loves, etc..

Or you could buy into the whole cultural assimilation over decades kind of thing.

Here's another for your time:
The Mortar of Assimilation (1889)

Only the Irish immigrant is causing trouble and refusing to "mix"/assimilate with the rest of America πŸ˜›

Potatoes and shamrocks for the win!

Seriously: Ireland is nothing like people imagine it. Generalizations are general. Lol.
