I used to be about getting big as possible, but now I've realized people are tricked into thinking you're bigger if you are shredded. A year ago I was like 210, strong and big. Then I changed things up to get ripped and people started asking me if I was into bodybuilding. It seems backwards, but it seems to be the best way for me.
Looks of course that feeling walking into a grocery store etc...Dude what are you benching (Yeah that feeling)
Looks more than strength for me now. Like a few others I'm getting older and have aches and pains lol. Still like lifting heavy once in a while but concentrating on leaning out.
With that said though, I'm doing DC training now so it's not really light weights and it's intense as hell

That's a good point. When I was younger it was more of an ego thing. I would lift heavier than I should have to try and prove something.
When I was young and dumb it was always lift as heavy as you can but now I go for strict form trying to get the best pump I can get.
When ever I train with someone the first thing I say is "This isnt a pissing match. Lift smart with good form and be safe". One injury from ego lifting can set you back awhile. I like being strong and big. But if I had to choose... I would choose looks over strength
I don't care about "big" strength. Very easy to hurt joints, muscles, etc. all about the looks.

If I had a dollar for every powerlifter who's had a shoulder injury...
Lifting to look good is a mind fuck. Lower weight, and focusing on mind muscle connection takes getting used to. But if you want to be a meat head and sling iron around, then do so...
I've heard this at the gym and the guys always tell me that it is all about getting in there and making more towards finding what is your core value plan; I will find my mind set, and it will eventually take shape to more of my desires. I have been on and off with results still intact, but I am now finding that if I keep towards lower weights and just firming what I bitch about, then I can move up eventually. Great reply for me to learn from!
