i will use some generic numbers for the sake of calculation.
200 lbs
15% bf
maintanance cals 2000
12 week cycle
What is a good rule of thumb to add 15-20 lbs lbm and drop bf%?
For example, if a guy takes in 400 cals under Maintanance, will bf be burned as a form of energy to replace calorie deficit and be used as nutrients to build muscle along with a high protein diet and most carbs being consumed after a workout? Or is eating at a calorie deficit considered a cut no matter what?
Iis building muscle and eating at a calorie deficit mutually exclusive? Is the only way to execute a successful recomp to eat big to build, then cut?
The question is kinda hard for me to understand. But I don't see really building muscle with out enough calories. I would think during a"cut" diet the best you could hope for was to preserve the muscle you have, but losing fat. I could be way off, but to really build muscle you need + calories.
Just reading the thread topic I can say that for me, yes, definitely.

I would say that without gear then it is impossible to add LBM at a deficit. Now if your talking on gear (tren w test) then this could become an option, but extremely difficult. Given the hypothetical numbers then definite possibility with proper diet, rest, and traiining the BF will melt off but 10-15lbs of LBM still a large goal to acheive. Good luck n let us how ur experiment goes.
You CANNOT add mass on a deficit. Not going to happen. If a recomp is what you want, look at leangains, or similar solutions. Eat +20% calories on exercise days, -30% calories for off days

Thanks. Been running lean gains for about a month now. I love it. And it's working well.
