Splitting hairs comes of as you being a dick. You can deliver a message w out being a pompous asshole. Congrats bro, you've got a degree in nutrition. You also have a way as coming off as arrogant and condescending.

Its not just this thread, you tend to talk down to everyone in all threads. Not sure there is a need for that. Its just people helping people.

And there are definately alternative fats to animal fats that are a better alternative. Avocados for example. So when I said animal fats aren't the healthiest fats, thats not incorrect.

Im not arguing with you. Good day.

Relax, guys! You're both right.

Both types of fat are great. I can see where you're both coming from. Animals where the fat content is high in Omega-3 fats (i.e. goats, sheep, game meat and grass-fed cows) are great and should be a part of ANY serious BBer'ss diet, and those have been proven to be extraordinarily healthy and great. Those that are corn-fed still have Omega 3's, but much less, and they aren't as great (most Americans have enough Omega 6s and 9s in their diet, and that's why the gov recommends people cut back on animal fats. BBers though can disregard this).

No question that plant-sourced fats (almonds, pistachios, avocados) are also great. The health benefits of those are unquestionable.

Sometimes I think members should have to keep in their sig what they're currently cycling 😀

The only reason why I get so antsy about stuff like this is because I'm just tired of seeing the same misinformation be polluted throughout the public. It's not because I have some sort of personal vendetta against anyone. Especially not you, Johnnyboy. I'm sorry I came off as a dick and a douchebag. I am definitely not that person and I'd say that overall I'm a really friendly person.

Like I said it's just having to constantly deal with and correct the wrong information so consistently that become so absolutely frustrating I guess that's why my tone is so stern and condescending. My apologies I hope I didn't offend anyone and if so I hope that you guys can forgive me and look passed it.

I apologize as well. It's easy to get fired up over things you are passionate about.

Amen to that.

Op: sorry to derail your thread. I hope helpful information was provided in spite of the bickering.

It's all good boys... always worth the read. For a bulk what Macros you guys normally stick to.
I've been at 40/40/20 roughly for many months and even shredded down for summer using that
ratio.

I see some of my buddies doing 25/50/25 and getting some good results with that without too
much fat gain. What are everyone's thoughts on macros for bulking?

Bulking is definitely an opportunity to tinker with macros and see which works best for you. I'm on a bulk right now and my macros are approximately (and I say this because I am not always dead on this point) 50(P)/30(C)/20(F) and I have results that I feel are optimal for me. I'd suggest that you ensure most of your calories come from protein because getting a little bit too much protein is much better than not enough. When you have a bit too much it is simply converted to glucose molecules via gluconeogenesis so you'd basically just end up with a little bit more glucose than intended.

If glycogen were not a factor in efficient bulking I don't think I'd ever consume carbohydrates. They make me FEEL fat and I hate that feeling.

Fat is something we are to never exclude because it is very important in maintaining homeostasis and a normal, functional, and healthy body.

Hope this helps.

Goatfish has a solid answer. 40/40/20 is also pretty common, as you mentioned (did you experience hunger issues with carbs at that level?? Most people cut with much higher fats).
Protein should always be the highest one when you're bulking.

Hunger is pretty much a constant issue for me. I think my ghrelin hates me.

Who needs a presidential debate? We've got more important debates like carb cycling and macros. Ha.

How anyone can cut with 40% carbs is beyond me... Protein and fat all the way, there's no other way to be full. Sweet potatoes and the occasional oatmeal are the only carbs that enter my mouth when cutting.

Once my body hit below 7% BF my metabolism was on fire. I always eat a min of 5 meals daily and sometimes 6. Right now been eating 6 meals on the daily.

I found when I was going to 45% or 50% protein and 25% fats I was hungrier and had less energy. I get most of my daily carbs from oats, some fruit, tators and rest veggies... occasionally if I have pasta or ww bread then also get from that.

I track everything daily...

Today I am sitting at:

Food calories consumed
2,729

Exercise calories burned
742

Back, Bi's, Abs

Marcos

Fat
61g
19.9%

Saturated Fat
23.2g

Cholesterol
1,189.5mg

Sodium
2,032.6mg

Carbohydrates
256.1g
37.2%

Fiber
34.7g

Sugars
120.8g

Protein
295.7g

Definitely get that sugar down. That is a lot of sugar for one day.

What do you know about leptin? I've read a lot about carb cycling through plateaus in order to raise leptin, but I've never hit a plateau as long as I hit my macros on a low carb diet. If I cheat, skip workouts, that will definately effect me. But I'm not sure how I feel about low leptin putting your body in starvation mode. Is that something that is supposed to happen over time, happen in short period of time, or something that happens on extremely low cal diets, or what?

This doesn't seem to be something that has effected. I've never done a cut for over 3 months, so I'm wondering if it's something that happens over time.

Hmmm I just looked at my sugar averages for last 3 months and
I am usually sitting between 58 and 7g5 max. It was high yesterday as
I had both honey with my oats on am and as a treat I made my
High Protein Pancakes with side of eggs. I had maple syrup with
them hence so high yesterday.

Currently using AllMax AllWhey Protein Powder which for two
scoops has 14g. I also usually have blueberries daily at about
3/4 - 1 Cup which is 13.5-18g of sugar and I have 1 tbsp of
unpasteurized honey usually with oats which is also 16g...

That equates to just under 50g daily and rest any other sugars
are very small minute in anything else eaten on the daily.
