Opted for these Nike Flex 2012's couple weeks back, been through a couple leg workouts now and am very pleased with them.

Shoes off is solid. That's the best way hands-down to squat and DL. The less cushion between yourself and the ground (in the form of shoes), the better. That's why wrestling shoes and shoes with a converse-like sole are good for lifting.
