Converses are great ,their hard sole is ideal for leg workouts IMO. Not to mention a lot of people have an old pair lying around.

I tend to go with whatever I can pick up on sale - DSW has a clearance section where it's really easy to find a pair of hard-soled athletic shoes for lifting. Currently rocking some Nike Stars. The sole is great, good amount of support under the ankle too, and cheap enough to throw around.

My kids got me some Adidas toe shoes and they took some getting used to at first but now I workout in them all the time. Just have to be careful as they don't provide as much protection as a regular shoe. They look retarded I guess but Fuck it I don't care. They are great on leg day especially deadlifts.

Something similar to what your showing there Rainier is what I had in mind.

Not sure about the toe or glove style....but if they worked and effectively I wouldn't give shit how they looked either, not there for a fashion show.

I'm an air max guy myself. Always have to be all black. On squat days I just take my shoes off. I had a powerlifting coach in highschool that made us do squats and deads w no shoes on. He didnt care if we wore wrestling shoes or shoes w a flat sole, but otherwise no sneakers. I still feel more comfortable to this day squatting w out sneakers on.

Shoes off is solid. That's the best way hands-down to squat and DL. The less cushion between yourself and the ground (in the form of shoes), the better. That's why wrestling shoes and shoes with a converse-like sole are good for lifting.

Yes they kind of look like a glove for your feet.

Barefeet for leg days. For everything else, I wear my regular trail running shoes.

VS lifting shoes on legs and sometimes back day. Just plain tennis shoes any other day. Maybe I'm weird, but I can't ever see myself squatting in anything other than lifting shoes now that I'm used to them. They look pretty damn ugly though, but they work.

I almost always wear vans slip ons or Nike p rods. I like flat shoes even though my foot is arched to hell, do cardio in them too.
