Iam no personal trainer so I do not recommend anything I say but, 3 weeks ago , I stopped using gloves , belt or straps . before that , I had a naggin small hernia problem, the one some of us get from the years of trying to be a super hero lol. But for some werid reason, I barley notice it now and I feel stronger in the gym. Anybody else ever notice this ?

Makes me wonder sometimes. Always end up with midsection discomfort after enough sets with a tight belt. Ill try to drop the belt and work more on core strength to see if it helps. Can't imagine someone wrapped around your guts like that is good for you

Never used one. Not needed IMO and I pull in the 500s/squat a lot. Gotta build that core strength

Maybe too many years of a belt ,does cause a little more weaker core ,I dunno. I will mention tho ,I would not atempt my squats without my knee wraps ,,,I find them very benaficial to avoid any joint pain in this area.

I prefer sleeves on my last heavy set

I don't use a belt until 400lbs and up. But its just a little Walmart belt. You shouldn't were a belt with light weight. You need to let the stabilizers grow with the larger muscle groups. Injuries happen because people use a belt for everything. I hear people say I have to wear it my back is weak A lot of times a weak mid section is were the back pain stems from. Abdominal exercises are essential for a solid core. Thank you HH

I'm a big believer in not using a belt on warm-ups and a few times a year doing a training cycle without a belt at all. Even if you compete with a belt. You need to learn to brace your core and teach the abs that there is more to life than crunches and looking pretty.

I still like a belt for heavy deadlifts. I discovered a couple of years ago that the belt should be adjusted so that it is tight during the contraction phase, but fairly loose when relaxed. Most people, including me, overtighten that bitch when relaxed, and that causes problems

I only use my belt, straps, or sleeves and heavy compound lifts. I agree, i feel teaching yourself to focus on controlling the weight will help improve strength and other muscles.
